Jeff & Mandy on Buying a Static at Thorpe Farm

Meet Thorpe Farm Owners Jeff & Mandy

“It’s like being at home, but away at the same time.”

When Jeff and Mandy first visited Thorpe Farm, they weren’t planning to buy a holiday home.

Married for almost 40 years, the couple had often enjoyed meals in the Courtyard Restaurant and loved browsing The Peel House. On one visit, they decided to pop into the sales office “just for a look”…

Three years later, they’re proud Thorpe Farm owners and can’t imagine life without their holiday home.

Finding the Right Holiday Park

When searching for a holiday home, Jeff and Mandy knew exactly what they were looking for.

“Researching online, Thorpe Farm looked like a lovely, family-run, quiet site. We specifically wanted a park that’s for owners only.”

After viewing a holiday home they immediately felt comfortable with, they decided to take the plunge.

Looking back, it’s a decision they’ve never regretted.

A Home From Home

One of the biggest surprises has been just how much they use their holiday home.

“How much we enjoy it. It’s like being at home, but away at the same time.”

Now both retired, Jeff and Mandy spend most of the summer at Thorpe Farm and visit regularly throughout the winter too.

They even have a special tradition.

“We like to escape here on Boxing Day after all the Christmas mayhem is over.”

Their holiday home has also become a special place for family time. Their 13-year-old granddaughter stays most weekends and loves having friends to stay during the school holidays, thanks to the spacious second bedroom in their upgraded holiday home.

Why They Upgraded

After Jeff retired, the couple realised they’d be spending even more time at Thorpe Farm, making the decision to upgrade an easy one.

What sold it?

“The style of it was what we loved. The kitchen and bathrooms especially. The second bedroom is ideal for our granddaughter to have friends to stay.”

Life at Thorpe Farm

For Jeff and Mandy, owning a holiday home is about slowing down and enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

“Somewhere to relax. Nice and quiet. Plenty of lovely walks.”

Being close to home is another huge benefit.

“The location was a key point for us. It’s not too far from home, so we can just get in the car and come without a long journey.”

They regularly enjoy everything Thorpe Farm has to offer, including the Farm Shop, Courtyard Restaurant and The Peel House, while also exploring the surrounding area.

Some of their favourite local recommendations include:

A Place to Make Memories

Owning at Thorpe Farm has changed the way they spend their leisure time.

While Jeff was still working, Mandy often escaped to the park on her own.

“It became my happy place.”

Today, it’s somewhere they can relax together, spend quality time with family and enjoy the freedom of coming and going whenever they choose.

Their Advice for Future Owners

Jeff and Mandy are honest about buying a holiday home—it’s a significant decision—but they believe it’s one that’s well worth making if it suits your lifestyle.

“It’s a big investment, but if you’ve stayed at Thorpe in a tourer and you like it… do it!”

Their biggest piece of advice?

“Don’t buy it as an investment. Buy it for your enjoyment in the years to come.”
