“Life is always 90mph at home, but when we come to our static, everything slows down.”
When Tracy and Kenmore first discovered Thorpe Farm, they weren’t looking to buy a holiday home.
They were searching for somewhere peaceful to keep their touring caravan on a seasonal pitch – somewhere without a noisy clubhouse or late-night entertainment. What they found was so much more.
Just a few months after arriving with their tourer, they knew Thorpe Farm was the right place for them and upgraded to their own holiday home.
Now, they spend almost every weekend here with their two dogs, Millie and Sasha, enjoying a slower pace of life.
Tracy and Kenmore arrived at Thorpe Farm with a touring caravan in November, hoping to find a quiet base where they could relax.
As they settled into life on the park, they quickly realised how much they loved being here.
“We wanted somewhere peaceful. We loved the atmosphere and the animals – especially the goats, who are always very entertaining!”
One thing that really stood out to them was that Thorpe Farm is an owners-only holiday park, with no holiday rentals.
“You get to know your neighbours because they’re not changing every week. It feels much more like a community.”
By April, they had made the decision to upgrade to a static holiday home.
For them, it simply made sense.
“We’d already tested out Thorpe Farm with our touring caravan and realised how much we enjoyed it. Having a holiday home gave us more comfort, especially during bad weather. Battling with the awning on the tourer wasn’t much fun!”
One of the biggest surprises has been just how much Tracy enjoys spending time at their holiday home.
“I’m a real home person, so I was surprised by how much I love being here.”
Now they visit every week, usually from Thursday through to Sunday.
In fact, leaving is the hardest part.
“We don’t like having to go home on a Sunday evening!”
For Tracy and Kenmore, weekends are all about slowing down and appreciating the simple things.
Their perfect morning starts with a coffee on the decking while listening to the birds, before taking Millie and Sasha for a walk around the park.
Sometimes they’ll head into nearby Barnard Castle for breakfast at their favourite spot, No.3 Café, or catch up with the friends they’ve made since becoming owners.
Most of the time, though, they’re simply happy relaxing.
It’s the little things that make Thorpe Farm feel special.
The couple love spending time with the farm animals, enjoying coffee in the Courtyard, and popping into the Farm Shop for a chat.
“Phillip in the shop is always a good giggle!”
They’ve even discovered a new hobby since becoming owners.
“We’d never played bingo before, but we absolutely love the monthly bingo nights!”
As owners, they also enjoy making the most of the exclusive owners’ discount card, which gives them savings across the on-site facilities, making regular visits to the café, restaurant and shop even more enjoyable.
It’s these shared experiences, familiar faces and owner benefits that have helped Thorpe Farm feel like a real community.
When asked what they love most about owning their holiday home, the answer comes without hesitation.
“The tranquillity. It’s a different way of life. There’s no hurry for anything, and everything feels so relaxed.”
Owning a holiday home has completely changed how they spend their free time.
“Life is always 90mph at home, but when we come to our static, everything slows down and we can really relax.”
If someone is considering buying a holiday home at Thorpe Farm, Tracy and Kenmore’s advice couldn’t be simpler.
“Do it!”
Having experienced both touring and holiday home ownership at Thorpe Farm, they know first-hand what the park has to offer and haven’t looked back since making the move.
When asked to sum up Thorpe Farm in just two words, their answer says it all:
