What you can find in the local area!

Our team at Thorpe farm Holiday Park, are proud of the facilities that we provide you, and we are grateful for all the kind reviews you leave! However, did you know about the Local Attractions in Yorkshire?

We are lucky enough to be based on the border between County Durham and North Yorkshire, meaning there are some wonderful Local Attractions in Yorkshire which are just a short drive away! Whether it be Barnard Castle, Richmond or Durham Cathedral, High Force or Bowes Museum, you will be truly amazed when you visit and have the chance to explore the beautiful North East and North Yorkshire!

Onsite at Thorpe Farm, is Wetheriggs Animal Rescue Centre. Wetheriggs is a family run animal centre who take in injured, and unwanted animals. These animals include domestic pets, farm animals, and other native wildlife. The owners said, “If we have the facilities suitable, we will take in any animal and give them a new home and a new chance at life.”

Visitors can get the chance to get close to these animals, and potentially even feed them! They also regularly hold animal handling sessions with rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, snakes, lizards, rats, chickens and much more!

Speaking of wildlife, you can take a trip to Wetland Nature Reserve, near Durham. Visitors can enjoy countryside views and find a wide range of wetland wildlife in this outstanding habitat. The reserve was created in 2008, and is now well developed, even attracting a vast array of birds. This reserve is perfect for birdwatchers, wildlife enthusiasts, or just people who want to take a great photo! Visitors can see the wetland and its inhabiting wildlife, from many vantage points which are located along the miles of walks around the brand-new plantations, make sure to bring some binoculars!

Here at Thorpe Farm Holiday Farm, we are happy to boast multiple walking routes, with different environments between them. Whether you’re looking to explore dells and fields, or deep woodland, you will find what you are looking for. All our walks take advantage of the established footpath network, and make sure to not skip on the finest views in the area. Explore the banks of the River Greta and see where it joins the River Tees. If you chose to go south, you can find the town of Barningham and the Moors above. This marks the start of the famous Yorkshire Dales, one of many Local Attractions in Yorkshire, and the views of Teasdale from here may just leave you speechless! And for anyone wondering, we not only allow but encourage the choice of bringing your dog(s) along with you. At Thorpe Farm Holiday Park we are proud to be titled as one of the top places for dog walks and Local Attractions in Yorkshire. We have easy access and spacious car parking areas, so you can start your journey hassle free. But before you embark on your adventure, we recommend you stop by our popular café for some light refreshments. Why not grab a jam scone and a cup of coffee while you plan your route ahead of time. You can even grab a sandwich and a bottled drink to take with you on your walk to have a picnic in the wilderness, and be sure that your furry friend gets a treat as well!

At Thorpe Farm Holiday Park, we do everything we can to ensure you gain memories you will cherish forever.
